Good afternoon Moms and Dads!
Any journey travelled through life has its bumps and obstacles along the way…
And so too, does your little one’s journey through school, quite literally…
Just a cute little read…
Dear Mom and Dad, It’s Friday today, and off to school I go…
Yes I may cry to say goodbye, but there’s something I want you to know…
Once I am there, oh we have so much fun, lots of friends now and so much to do…
We play together and laugh together, and we learn about sharing too.
We may fight over toys, we don’t yet understand, that in all things we do need to share…
But this is the way that we learn and we grow, this is how we learn to care.
So mom, let me grow, let me cut my knee, as I fall off a bike or two…
Let me come home with a graze on my arm, I’m growing, that’s what growing kids do!
Remember I’m not at home anymore, I’m with others, we jump and we run…
I may get knocked over once or twice, but that’s playing and having fun!
So mom, don’t worry so much anymore, I am big now I have to play…
And along with playing comes an “eina” or two, but that’s part of growing up I say!
Love from your little one xxx Written by Chantal
We are excited to welcome our new children and their families who have just joined us. We look forward to getting to know you as we start this new and exciting journey ahead!
What a great week it has been!
The children are continuing to settle in, with now only the occasional separation anxiety morning tear. These are however beginning to be replaced by smiles, shy giggles and happy laughter, as the children get to know their friends, their Teachers, and all about themselves.
Classroom activities have now begun…
Our theme for this week has been “Me and my body” and will continue into next week. From cutting to colouring, sticking to tearing, puzzles to games, the list goes on.
Each of our themes and activities (both indoors and out) are age appropriate, and carefully constructed, to incorporate, promote and include the following:
SOCIAL / EMOTIONALMeeting new friends | LANGUAGE / VOCABULARYBuild language through songs, finger plays and games. |
FINE MOTOR SKILLSDrawing (free drawing, colouring, body image) | GROSS MOTOR SKILLSHopping, galloping, climbing, running, jumping & marching. |
SCIENCE / SENSORYExploring smells, noises, tastes and visuals | MATH READINESSCounting, rhymes and songs (Rote counting) |
BIBLEWeekly Bible activity (Evangeli Curriculum) | MUSICMaking instruments |
Hands-on activities vs worksheets…
- Hands-on activities allow the children to use their senses while learning. They see, touch and move real objects to complete tasks. This means that numbers, shapes, colours, and more are brought to life!
- Children get excited and engaged because they are having FUN.
- They have a longer attention span. This helps them to build knowledge and increase their long-term memory.
- Children will strengthen their fine motor development. They learn control, communication, concentration and dedication to finishing tasks and problem- solving skills.
- Hands-on preschool activities help children to build a lifelong love of learning.

News for today…
Theme of the week: Me and my body
A week full of fun and lots of learning too!
Numbers, counting 1,2,3, as I learn about “Me and my body”…
Not just pictures to bring home to you, oh no, it is so much more that I do!
My Teacher has this word she uses, it’s “Maths”, she says we can practice today…
Counting our toys on the table:
putting together and taking away.
Counting the swings and the motorbikes too, cutting our bread at tea time…
1 plus 1 equals 2 I learn, ine
a song or in a new rhyme.
So now I understand what my teacher means, when she says maths is good for me,
It makes me feel so big and wait, I’ll be oh so clever, you’ll see!

Our theme for next week:
Continuing with Me and My Body
Bible Theme: God made the World
Important Info:
Extra Murals: Please see our Extra Murals offered here at school. These will begin next week. Brochures, further info and enrolment forms have been sent home with your child. Please complete enrolment forms and return to us should you be interested in your child enrolling in any of the listed. (All extra murals take place here at school, during the course of the school morning, and are payable directly to the extra mural Teachers).
Thinking ahead… HEARCARE PLUS will be conducting an annual hearing screening test here at school on the 26th of February 2020 at a cost of R100 per child.
(Please note that this is an optional service)
Annual screening tests are important to determine the health and hearing status of a child’s ears. Early identification and treatment of any hearing or ear related difficulty is vitally important in order to prevent any speech, language and learning disabilities. Please note that information regarding the hearing test will be sent out to Parents shortly.
That’s it for now, but before we go…
Thought for the day…
Blessings to all for a wonderful week ahead!
